Our private island community is surrounded by the Roanoke Sound on historic Roanoke Island, the location of the first English attempt at colonization in the United States. Here you can discover the Lost Colony, the site of an entire American colony that mysteriously disappeared after its ship returned to England. Visit the grounds to learn the story, recently featured in American Horror Story, and who knows, maybe you could discover what happened!
Pirate’s Cove has great amenities that will keep the entire family happy, rain or shine. Enjoy one of the multiple TV’s or unwind with a game of pool at our club house, get competitive in our extensive arcade, cool off in the adult pool while the little ones play in the kiddie pool, or soak in the hot tub in the cool evenings. Reserve the on-site pavilion for any large group, set up a game of basketball or volleyball in one of the nearby courts, cook-out in one of our park-style grills, or just make S’mores in the fire pit! Outdoor adventurists love to walk or bike the 4 miles of boardwalk, rent a kayak and explore the property from the water, or fish and crab on premises, without the need for a state license.

Pirate’s Cove Marina offers inshore and offshore fishing for the avid angler as well as adventures for the children of your group. Charters are offered daily, where fisherman depart 30-50 miles out to the Golf Stream and often return with Mahi-Mahi, Blackfin and Yellowfin Tuna, and Wahoo. Pirate’s Cove is involved in a variety of maritime events, including the Alice Kelly Tournament, the Pirate’s Cove Big Game Tournament, and the Carolina Boat Builders Fishing Tournament. Boaters love our multiple gas stations, one of the few places on the Outer Banks that you can fill up your boat!
Located just a few miles over the bridge towards Nags Head, Jennette’s Pier is a popular location for anglers of all ages and abilities. Jutting out over 1,000 feet into the Atlantic Ocean, Jennette’s Pier is one of the biggest piers in North Carolina. Expect to catch drum, trout, and bluefish! Not into fishing? No worries. Jennette’s Pier offers spectacular views far into the Atlantic and you can see dolphins, sharks, and even the occasional humpback whale.
Environmentalists and conservationists know that Jennette’s Pier is a member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, and is an active participant in the conservation of marine life. Additionally, they are a partner with the Loggerhead Marine Life Center and work diligently to restore the sea turtle population.
